Hooker's Plan for the Confederate Army

Hooker planned to trap Lee's army and crush them once and for all in April 1863. He would divide his army into three parts first 10,000 cavalrymen would ride south and cut Lee's communication and supply lines Next hookers infantry would trap Lee’s army in between two pincers 40,000 Union soldiers would attack the Confederate defenses at Fredericksburg while another 70,000 marched on Chancellor'sville nine miles to the west.
