Is the Bible a Living Document?
The bible is implicit in all sorts of other great texts, like shakespeare. And so it has to be taken seriously, i would say, even if you don't believe it. You have to wonder how much of what's biblical you do end up believing because of its implicitness. We don't isolate the bible as though it has no relation to what we know from other disciplines. No, no, it's got to be in dialogue with that at the verye sar, because we don't play the double truth game.
