The Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge was built on budget and ahead of time in the 1930s. 37 million vehicles cross it every year, despite being 80 years old. In 1989 a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit San Francisco with an epicenter close to the bridge. A seismic retrofit has been carried out since then that is still going on today.
