The Principle of Optimism
Peter Singer says the principle of optimism doesn't apply to all laws of nature. But it seems like we want to be careful not to just widely assume that all laws ofnature are going to be favorable for us, which is kind of what he's verging on. The sun kicking out a piece of itself that hurdles towards the earth and then kills everyone would still be allowed as long as it doesn't impose bounds on the growth of knowledge.
