The Origins of the Natural Sciences Versus the Humanities
Vice is the inventor of the notion of a culture in this particular sense. He believed that human behaviour could be interpreted as some kind of expression. And he founded the sciences of comparative philology, comparative anthropology and comparative legal studies. It was not read by anyone at all when it first appeared 25 years ago. The chief reason I don't know how many people here have ever attempted to read it then or later is that veke is comparatively unreadable today.
