The Journey of Magellan's Fleet

In 1519, the same summer that Cortes Marauda threw Mexico, Magellan's fleet sailed away unscathed heading for South America. By December, the fleet had reached Brazil, where they restocked and continued southward. Incliment weather barred the way, with fierce storms and high winds. The men anchored off of Patagonia to wait out the season before attempting the passage into the unknown seas to the east by means of a water passage around the Americas.
