The Name Magdalen
Luke says she's called the magdalen as if it means something, as a nickname. Now it could mean that she just comes from a place called magdala. However, there's no really specific place just called Magdala. So then the question is, does the tower mean something in terms of her status? And there's various different ways of interpreting the term. If we think of it as an aromaic m it could mean also as some one who is magnified.
