The E-17 Tail Gunner's Journey to Thailand

"We did not get shot at broad daylight," he says. "You always, uh, fortunes of war, you figured the other guys going to ... or you can always jump out." He was a tail gunner in B-17s during World War II. The U.S. Air Force asked him if he would be willing to serve as an air traffic control officer in Thailand.
