Freedom for Excellence Is a Second Kind of Freedom
For liberte de calite, freedom for excellente is not the sovereign capacity of the will towards self determination. But rather the disciplining of desire so as to make the achievement of the good first possible and then effortless. Freedom for excellence does not stand in opposition to law. Rather, law, in a way, is the condition for its possibilityt good taken into oneself through an ecstatic act of self forgetting. To will the good is to touch the real, as iris murdock said.
