Is Liz Truss Going to Follow Through on the Spending Promises?
Liz Truss wants to scrap or think she's agreed to scrap the national insurance levy which would have raised 12 billion a year for the NHS and social care. I'd be astonished if any conservative Prime Minister was willing to go into an election cutting spending to the NHS. So yes, she's obviously decided she wants borrowing to take strain of pretty much everything. And her tax cuts are not being accompanied by traditional fiscal conservatism, they're being accompanied by greater borrowing.
