Sally Kohn: It makes sense to me that coming out of these strict communities and finding some freedom in curiosity that you would also apply that lens to sort of the socio-cultural, socio-political moment. I don't just want a tribal orthodoxy handed down to me. That is what I have had to leave behind. And so I'm going to explore with curiosity. But if we squelch that curiosity, we'll never get there. She says cultural taboos are another kind of a good bridge.
