The History of the JCP and the JSP

The JCP moved away from its stance of independent neutrality in the Cold War toward closer ties with the Soviet Union. The party newspaper, Aka-Hata, or the Red Flag, was made into a daily newspaper by 1960. Huatetsu-Zou was chosen by Miyamoto Kenji to be the new Secretary General in 1970. He remained powerful in the party for a very long time.
