Peter Bergen: The history of sitting presidents who are challenged, including by Kennedy's is not one right that you would wish to see repeated. He says we have not in half a century or more had a challenger who has polled in the double digits against a sitting president and that sitting president won the subsequent reelection campaign. Bergen: This could do a lot of damage. And I actually think the press is underplaying this story, shock horror.
