The Consequences of Exiting the NPT

India did run into some issues as a result of exiting the NPT. They'd have to give up their nuclear weapons and they don't want to do that. India has not signed the NPT simply because it's not, there's no, they can't. And why do they have nuclear weapons? Well, the same reason that the US has nuclear weapons: A real enemy who wants to kill them.
