The Afghanistan War Was Privatized

The Department of Defense issued $931 million in contracts to 18 companies related to work in Afghanistan that was set to continue past the May 1st withdrawal date negotiated by President Trump. Many contractors don't work for the military to begin with, a lot of them are technically hired and funded by the US Agency for International Development,. That's how they were going to get around their promises to remove all of them. The defense department made those promises, not the state department. They just added a few more middlemen to make it seem less like we were still funding all of that.
