Is There a Culture of Repair?
In the global north, I would say kind of culture of disposability, right? When stuff breaks, you throw it out. But this is not at all what's happening in places like where you guys are working. There is an incredibly rich artisanal culture of skilled repair that's kind of generalist too. And so yeah like a lot of the folks that maybe were employed by the state utility, Tinesco, to install service lines also end up doing these really interesting jobs on the distribution side because the utilities often underfunded and can't send out wire repairs.
