Is There a Standard of Historical Reliability?

It seems to me that as a whole, any new age guru or just the new age movement of the new age. They do not in any way hold to the same standard that works that they appeal to as far as being authoritative and these are the ultimate sources of ancient knowledge. That's why historians don't take it seriously. And I looked at the historical history behind it and I did not find anything relatively remotely close to what we have in New Testament. You'll see different accounts that go like the gospel of Thomas and things like that. But it always, it seems to me like, so they appeal to these sources. They don't hold the same standard of historical authenticity.
