The Octopus Communicates With Other Species

Raymond: I wanted to write a hard science fiction novel and set before myself the challenge of, you know, if a species like the octopus was going to communicate, what would it use? The passing cloud is like this shadow that passes across the octopus's skin very quickly sometimes or slowly. It can be very intricate. What I was looking for was a convincing method of communication for this particular animal.
