Ludmila Pavlachenko was a sharpshooter who volunteered in the Soviet maritime army to basically kill Nazis. The official military tally of her kills is 309. She became a bit of a propaganda figure because she was just so incredible, but she was such an incredible shot. Woody Guthrie wrote a song about her. It's called Miss Pavley-Chanka.
