It really is actually striking, shocking actually to me how badly Gorbachev comes out of your book that he emerges as a character. He's detached, he's timid, he's feckless, he seems to be lacking in political instinct. There's no pragmatic organizational ability. I mean, he seems pretty hopeless... Well, I'm struck by this contrast myself. And my first admission was to be, you know, more or less humble.
