The Chinese Communist Party's Role in the Russian System

The Russian system is very different from the Chinese system at this point. They share similar roots, but Russia had the extremely messy 1990s that really reshaped like Russian business and elite culture in mostly terrible ways. And so something like this, which I've seen convincingly interpreted as like a kind of gangster confrontation coming out of like 1990s Russian culture just doesn't make sense in the same way to the Chinese. It's not that the Chinese don't have organized crime. But it's much more bureaucratic. The whole system is much less gangster dependent.
