Stoicism is great to reduce anxiety and stress. It really helps you let go of the desire to control external circumstances whilst focusing on your internal response. Marcus Aurelius was another one of the very famous Stoics who as the emperor of Rome faced numerous challenges. Another important Stoic was Epictetus. He was born a slave to Epaphra-Detus, which sounds like a harder word to say than Epictetus because it is. But he ended up actually administering things in the court of Nero before eventually gaining his own freedom and becoming a lecturer in philosophy.
