You got to get really close to a black hole is the point. This thing's only six kilometers across. You got to get within like 20 kilometers of it. That's before we had discovered this life form striving at the bottom of the ocean. Where the sun don't shine. And so just to be clear, yeah, surface life would rapidly die.
