Platforms Are Just Like Newspapers
The court has taken this newspaper-like editorial power and found it in the hands of a lot of other entities that are not very much like newspapers. "I don't think platforms are just like newspapers," says Daphne O'Mara, an expert on First Amendment law. The president is doing law rereads all these cases to say there's no protected speech when host picks out words connected with his or her own message; they're taking Hurley, which really stands for the opposite proposition. It's pretty hoodsy, but it gets my mom, I would say."
