The Most Important Ritual of Freemasonry

There areintal ation ceremonies when someone takes up a masonic office, consecrations when a new lodge is founded. When lodges take part in public events, like, say, a corner stone laying of a new building, they will undertake a ritual procession. Possibly the most a personally importanta ritual that masons also perform is funerals. One of the advantages of being a freemason was it was a kind of social insurance. Many men didn't necessarily have enough moneys ed up to pay for their own burial. And there is an elaborate funeral rite that involves reciting certain lines and putting a sprig of vegetation on top of the coffin before it's buried.
