The War Between the State and the Military
Julius caesar was an incredibly riveting figure. He had what was probably epilepsy, although some people have said it was something else,. But he had some sort of fainting sickness, which is mentioned in shakespeare's play. And yet he had lived this very spare life that plutarch talks about how he used that fainting sick as a reason to really keep a tight control over his diet and exercise. So you see now why caesarbe starts to look like such a threat, not just to pompey, who seems to have ambitions of his own, but also to the senate and to the state.
