Nietzsche: All great things first have to be stried, the earth in monstrous and frightening masks. Like philosophy was such a mask, for example, the Vedanta doctrine in Asia and Platonism in Europe. So that you could literally have thousands of years of error in our thinking. And Nietzsche doesn't look at this with the attitude of lamenting this fact or saying, oh, how stupid we were. But he says it was an error that we have to thank for the great pyramids of Giza.
