What's the Status of the Taiwan Act?

The Taiwan Policy Act, which seems so incredibly provocative when it was introduced, wound up in a much more watered down forum. The most provocative parts of that legislation would have given Taiwanese government officials diplomatic status without being able to call the Taiwan representative office an actual embassy. So these are things that Beijing was looking at very closely. But I mean, so far, there are other pieces of legislation that have bubbled up and they're just Republicans only.
