How to Make Good Video When You've Hit Record

Before you hit record, lock your focus and exposure. You can do that by simply just tapping on your focal point and holding. So if you're filming a person, just tap and hold the screen on the person. And then it will lock focus and exposure to that person. The aim is always to help people get a more professional look and try to avoid that amateur vibe.

So let's talk about what happens once we hit record. You know, we've talked about picking the lens and getting the light in a good situation and making sure the lens is clean and we have decent amount of battery and storage on the phone. But like once we hit record, there are some things that you might want to share. Like, what are some tips about actually making good video once you've actually, or

you're about to hit that down record button because, you know, the smallest little things can make the biggest difference, obviously, right? They really can with video. My aim is always to help people get a more professional look and try to avoid that amateur vibe. And one of the biggest mistakes I see people make. And it's just because they don't know how to do it. They don't know that this setting exists. But before you hit record, lock your focus and exposure. And you can do that by simply just tapping on your focal point and holding. And you'll notice that a yellow box will appear on your screen. Again, we're talking about the iPhone here. When you say focal point, most people don't even know what that means. So what do you mean by tapping on your focal point? So your subject. So if you're filming a person, just tap and hold the screen on the person. And then it will lock focus and exposure to that person. So if the lighting were to change or anything like that, the reason you would do this is you want to avoid an exposure change mid shot. So a really good example of this would be, let's say you were in a, inside in a, in a darkish room and you were walked outside. If you haven't locked your exposure, that thing will happen where when you walk outside, everything is kind of white and you've lost all the detail and then it slowly kind of finds it's exposure. That's what you want to avoid because that looks amateur. Okay.
