The New Right in American Politics

LZ: Can you just sort of explain what this movement is and then we can talk about whether it, how significant it is or isn't? LZ: Maybe the way to visualize it is that there is this umbrella grouping called the new right. And within this new right, there are host of groups ranging from ultra maga republicans to essentially kind of semi authoritarian paramilitaries like the Proud Boys. There are the national conservatives who look to the nation, state and national culture as kind of the foundational concepts of a conservative philosophy. On the other side, there are what we would call post liberal Catholics, who are looking for basically the reassertion of the faith in the institutions
