The Origins of the Peace Corps
The Peace Corps automatically became a subject of political polarization because Nixon was like, oh, the Peace Corps is just a way for people to get out of the army. And so I do feel like maybe, and this is just my theory, but I think that's when it kind of became split by something that Democrats do versus Republicans. There are 147 partner universities nationwide who provide certificate programs for undergraduates that want to enter the Peace Corps. Some of those partner schools include bring them young.
