The Geodesic and the Einstein Cross

It's almost like, depending on what perspective you have, the curve could be perceived as a straight line. I can relate it to a discussion within, within mathematics called the geodesic. It really takes that third person more sort of objective experience of the sphere to be able to understand that there is no straight line. But this concept was very important for Einstein and general relativity.
