The Suicide of Ettory

One theory claims that Ettory actually completed the ferry ride back to Naples. From there, he clandestinely took a short train ride to the nearby Mount Vesuvius and committed suicide by jumping into the crater of the volcano. In the absence of a body, we will never be able to confirm or deny this particular theory. There are some far more outlandish theories as to why a body was never found.
