Godzilla: The American Version

The original Japanese version of Godzilla wasn't available in the US for a long time. There was this very immediate sort of Americanization that was just like trying to turn this movie into something that was not at all what it originally was, says director Tom Cruise. The things that created this directly linked Godzilla to being a metaphor for nuclear development, bombs, and testing, and all these things were removed from the remake.
