How to Test Your Self Recognition in Elephants?

In 1970, psychologist Gordon Gallup found that chimps could recognize themselves in a mirror. In 2006, scientists at the Bronx Zoo tested an elephant's self-recognition by putting it in front of a full-bodied mirror. The elephants were able to see their whole body and even tried to look behind the mirror. This is where we see a kind of self-directed behavior emerge from mere self recognition.
