Beat down was a strictly hip hop magazine. After that, shortly thereafter, ego trip starts to come into focus and you form a partnership with initially Elliot and then also with Chairman Mao. It's very simple. I wanted it to be more of a reflection of my life,. I liked skateboarding. I liked rock. I like hip hop. And I also thought like, what are we offering? Why does the world need another hip hop? Whatever. So I just wanted something that was a little bit more contemporary to kind of how I lived at that point.
