The Great Depression and the Nazi Party
The Great Depression was a tremendous opportunity for Hitler to expand his share of the electorate. The president at the time was Paul von Hindenburg, aging war hero and some day namesake of the famous Zeppelin. He had drawn up a financial plan intended to rescue Germany from economic crisis but he could not get the Reichstag to pass it.
