The Indian Tribal Conflict in Manipur
Officials say that more than 50 people have died this month as ethnic violence flares in the state of Manipur. Hundreds more have been injured and tens of thousands of people have been displaced. The Mai Tai community wants to get the status of a tribal group, which means they would be accorded some special benefits. This led to arson, violence, and the burning down of several homes in Manipur.
