The Fine Structure Constant
One of the strongest signs of a crack in the standard model comes from meons, which you can think of as heavy electrons. This potential new physics could maybe also be detected by precise measurement of fine structure constant. But so far, in spite of the unprecedented precision of saida's work, there are no surprises yet. Both holger and saida are determined to keep improving measurements of this number in the hopes of understanding it as fundamentally as possible.
