How Does DNA Degrade Over Time?

There's a whole science now about the degradation of DNA, right? How DNA degrades over time, how to quantify it? Because it may not be obvious. They came up with something called the thermal age of the DNA. This is how old that DNA would be if its degradation were due to spontaneous degradation at 10 degrees C. So for example, this DNA that they found in Northern Greenland has a thermal age of 2.7 thousand years. It was degrading 741 times slower than DNA at 10 degrees Celsius. And as you say, that's because of two things mainly because one, it's been frozen the whole time,. The low temperature also protected this DNA.
