The Importance of a Diagnosis

Borderline personality disorder is thought to develop in the kind of setting of trauma although again not to build additional stigma oftentimes borderline personality is heritable it runs in families but trauma doesn't help. I run into a lot of people in my practice who have ADHD who have what would really be called complex PTSD which is sometimes also called borderline personality disorder in certain circles. It depends on where you're being diagnosed. We don't want to pigeonhole anybody we want to help people live so whatever is going to work we want to do it and we want to try to do that with as much evidence as possible and use the best practices.
