In Western thought, we tend to point the finger at Descartes. He proposed you have a machine body and a spiritual soul that sort of animates the body. So in my theory, when I see probabilities that I don't think are just epistemic, as a theorist, I'm saying this is a fundamental probability in nature. It can't be objective chance anymore. In my framework, it has to be some notion of choice. There may be constraints, but it can do some real choices among a limited range of options. And so it's not unrestrained free will, but it is some real novelty. When an agent makes a choice, something brand new comes into the universe
