The Logic Doesn't Track on Reddit Side
The company is preparing to IPO and getting investors feeling more confident about the financial reliability of the platform long-term. Reddit identifies that its biggest asset is all of this user generated data that until now has been quote, free to scrape. If it continues to allow third party developers, all of these low cost or free API calls, scraping can likely be done more easily by bypassing the primary API's Or giving them a clearer route to scraping some of that data.
