vertigo is caused by a conflict between the information from the eyes and the inner ear which we use to balance. In the UK about 3 in 10 of us will see our family doctor before the age of 65 because of dizziness. It's the commonest reason to see a doctor over the age of 75 so there are some high tech medical equipment for diagnosing and treating certain balance disorders. Tammy Barker, principal clinical scientist at Leicester Royal infirmary explains how she works with these machines.
