i think of this at two levels, one at a political level. And one could be like just a basic psychological level. At the political level, i think that we exist in conditions of injustice to varying degrees. We have a very deep need to screen off from our awareness these entitlements of others that are inconsistent with these ways of living that we are embedded in. And so i think that makes us prone to self deception. But what we need not do is look away from the fact that these injustices exist and we exist in them.
