The Crawling Step Is a Great Idea, Right?

Google's crawler is a brilliant idea. And you kind of wonder, wow, how come all the other search engines weren't able to come up with that in the late 1990s? But obviously Google was doing it better and maybe we'll come back a little later into how Google might have been operating a little bit differently than the othersearch engines when it came into prominence. So I think the crawling step is pretty easy for any company with enough resources.
