The Dictated Fifth Interval in Western Music
The relationship between the perfect and diminished fifth is suspiciously similar to some story of god and the devil are good and evil. There are precisely three perfect or diminished intervals in music, which may explain why we get six, six, six and seven. If we count in half notes or half steps, the smallest interval we recognize are seven half steps in the godly perfect fifth, and there are six in the diabolical diminished fifth.
