Are We Giving Kahana Too Much Credit?

Are we giving kahana too much credit by calling this stuff kahanist or kan like or whatever? Because this is kind of ideas that have been in judaism for a long time. And would it be somehow more helpful to not identify these things with a particular exemplar? I don't think cahana was really an innovator. He offered a particular articulation that lasted. Multiculturalism kind of put a stop to it. But i think we're living in a post multicultural world, in a sense, where some of these issues are coming back.
