Using Fission in Power Plants
Fission plants have been operating since the 50s and they're very useful. The problem is that they produce radioactive waste as these large atoms break apart. With fusion, those elements are less of a worry. You can't really have a meltdown because to get fusion going, you have to maintain everything under very high pressure,. And that's when you get the fusion going.
