Gage: My Navy recruiter got me into a program that took people in from places like my background, without a strong academic education. Had I not learned algebra in the Navy, there is no way I would have been successful when I got to Toulou College. He says he was studying how to interpret light that comes from stars to figure out what the matter is doing. And so the answer that I use is matter makes it. That's where light comes from. When matter makes light, the signature of what we are doing is encoded in the light.
